Changing the Equation: Redesigning Developmental Math

Assessing the Results Workshop: March 30, 2012

This workshop will be held at the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas in Dallas, TX. The purpose of the workshop is to share experiences, exchange ideas and to receive feedback from the group as well as from NCAT staff and scholars. Each participating institution is expected to send four representatives to this workshop, and attendees are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

Agenda

Presentation Format

Each team should select one representative to spend 15 minutes describing your project outcomes. That will allow about 15 minutes of Q&A and discussion after each presentation.

Spend 5 minutes on 4 slides

Slide 1: Give the audience a brief introduction to the background of your project, including your institution’s name and location, the course names (please don't use course numbers), annual enrollment, the traditional and the redesigned course structure.

Slide 2: Summary of comparative student learning outcomes

Slide 3: Summary of comparative student completion rates

Slide 4: Summary of cost savings for your institution and for students

Spend 5 minutes on course completion rates

Analyze and discuss why your completion rates increased, stayed the same or declined and what you intend to do in the future to address this issue.

Spend 5 minutes other implementation issues

Looking back on implementing your redesign, what worked best and what worked least well?  What were the greatest challenges (other than completion) that you faced and what did you do/what do you plan to do to meet them?
