Sustainability

University of Idaho

Will the redesign be sustained now that the grant period is over?

The fact that the redesigned course is less expensive and is more effective than the traditional course delivery method virtually guarantees that it will be sustained. Students have adjusted well to the approach. Under the traditional approach, approximately 30 students per semester typically came to the math office to complain. During Polya’s first fall term of use, four students came to the office to complain. In the second fall, no students came to the office to complain. In fact, many students have expressed the wish that Polya be used in the same way in Calculus. Consequently, all measures of success are positive.
