Impact on Cost Savings

Fairfield University

Were costs reduced as planned?

The anticipated cost savings for the redesign of general biology have proven to be accurate. In addition, laboratory costs decreased by nearly 73% (from $2470 to $680) by replacing dissection labs with computer-based activities. The university has also funded a $200,000 redesign of the auditorium used to teach General Biology to better accommodate the use of computers in the classroom. This renovation has been critical in the effectiveness of the redesign.
