Sustainability

Iowa State University

Will the redesign be sustained now that the grant period is over?

Iowa State University is committed to maintaining Discrete Mathematics in online form. The redesigned course is working well and is providing substantial savings to the department. The university also plans to apply its experiences with Discrete Mathematics to two other web-based courses (Algebra and Trigonometry), which have been taught for several years already. While no further cost savings in these courses are anticipated, the plan is to improve the students' learning experience and satisfaction.

There are no plans to convert higher-level courses, such as calculus, to online form. However, homework assignments for calculus courses are beginning to be available on the online testing system.
