State and System Course Redesign
State University of New York:
SUNYCourse Redesign Initiative (2007– 2010)

The State University of New York (SUNY) has established a major course redesign initiative, in partnership with the National Center for Academic Transformation, for its 64 member institutions. The goal is to achieve improvements in learning outcomes as well as reductions in instructional costs by redesigning large-enrollment, multi-section courses using technology-supported active learning strategies. The initiative will build on the successful models and lessons learned from NCAT’s Program in Course Redesign and Roadmap to Redesign. During the 2007-2008 academic year, the program expects to award 10 departmental grants of $40,000 for activities over the three-year period of the initiative.
